I just wanted to say hello, on Cyber Monday after Thanksgiving. I probably should have come on before now, because I’m in all these groups and all these people are talking about ‘cheat day’ and how to do ’48 hour water fasts’ to get over what they ate for Thanksgiving and they were bad. I just uh; this stuff drives me nuts. Just go eat food. The whole stress of constantly paying attention to food, constantly being on a diet, thinking about every morsel, it’s so just mind-boggling.

My name is Tammy Marshall and I’m the creator of The UnEmotional Eater Protocol. I really wanted to talk about Emotional Eating. The reason you can identify it as that is because when you’re experiencing any kind of uncomfortable emotion you eat. It’s not because you’re a bad person. It’s not because you’re doing it wrong. It’s just because somewhere along the way this cause and effect happens, and it becomes a habit.

This is why I do what I do. I kept trying to just go on a diet, “so just tell me what to eat”. But none of that stuff deals with why I eat or why you eat. It’s because of these uncomfortable emotions that we don’t know what to do with.

Really what I do is I teach people how to manage their emotions. I have a very concrete system that is not there to just “feel your feelings” but a process, a mindset change, a belief change, a complete paradigm of looking at everything about:

How are you? My name is Tammy Marshall, I’m the creator of the UnEmotional Eater Protocol.

I’ve missed you all. Things have been crazy, and I’ve been getting a lot of things done, which is going to impact you, which I will tell you about as we go along.

I’m in the shower in the mornings and God just gives me thoughts about we are going to talk about for the day. I work a lot around belief, and actually I have a group that I’ve been running called the ‘The Hundred Day Challenge’ and in there I just wrote ‘How is Your Belief?’ I realized for years, being an Emotional Eater and chronically being overweight anywhere from 20 to almost 100 pounds. I can’t believe that happened, but it was about 80 pounds but still a lot for me.

What happens, especially in the whole diet fail cycle, you start to believe that it’s not going to happen for you. You get your hopes up but at the same time, not really, because it’s not worked...

The Courage of Showing UP!

I was checking in this morning in a coach accountability group that I'm apart of,  it is a great group where coaches support one another.  One of the coaches said her goal today was to show up.  She is coming back from having a baby and if you’ve ever been there you vacillate between wanting to snuggle all day and wanting your life back.  But my response struck my heart as to why I do what I do. 

 “We all have people that are counting on us to show up because it gives them the courage to show up. They have people counting on them too. One long line of each other grabbing a hand helping the other to the next level!”

 That was it!  I show up every day to help YOU show up in your best way because there are tons of people counting on you too!  

 I’m not sure about you but I have struggled at times to just show up.  Yeah, you saw my face but my heart… my heart was on the couch, or in the bed...

I want to talk about happy. I was listening to somebody; I'm always listening to somebody or something. They were talking about happy and it reminded me that one of my first teachers was always saying “What makes you happy?”

I don't know about you, but I was raised in an environment where work and money were how you got your accolades. Nobody ever asked what makes you happy? No one was really focused on their own happiness because life was, so survival driven. It just is what it is.

Thinking about the folks in my family, you have the mindset coming out of the depression and my parents growing up. My dad grew up in poverty and my mom's family had their own challenges financially. So, they were very work oriented, and I got it, but nobody really cared how you felt because that was just so not valuable.

I wanted to talk about ‘there's no love in the food’. I think that's one of the biggest things, if you're experiencing cravings, compulsions, binges with certain foods. There is a disconnection or a misappropriation of emotions between you and that food. We always want to go, “Hey we're addicted to the food” but really what it is, is we're addicted to the feeling in what we believe.

I've told the story before about the woman that had to have those pretzels that have peanut butter in them, every day. She weighed and measured them, because she'd had had stomach surgery; gastric bypass or sleeve or whatever. It wasn't that she was just eating them out of control, it was just that she had to have them every day. Good morning. How are you? My name is Tammy Marshall and I’m the creator of The UnEmotional Eater Protocol, and I want to talk about 108 things.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always struggled with having fun like I grew up in a household that was really serious and much focused-on work. My dad had a poverty spirit, so it was all about work and striving. We didn’t do things like go on vacations. We were military, when you’re military it’s all focused on getting to go home. So, we would always spend our vacations going back to Tennessee.

It was different just having that work mindset which wasn’t bad but there wasn’t a lot of fun or play, my life always felt very serious. Good morning. How are you? My name is Tammy Marshall. I’m the creator of The UnEmotional Eater Protocol. We’re going to talk about ‘Resistance’ and I don’t know why but that’s the hot topic now in my world, Resistance.

Sometime recently I said something about ‘whatever you resist, persists’. It’s a law. We work within laws, like the law of gravity; the law of lift and thrust is greater than the law of gravity. It utilizes the law of gravity in order to lift and thrust, but the law is true. If you drop an apple, the apple is going to fall to the ground every time but the same is true for resistance. Whatever we come up against then something is going to push up against us right back.

I just want to talk about something; it's one of my heart breaks. I see women all the time and I've done it too, if you've heard anything about my story; this isn't something I read about in a book and thought it was a good idea. This is something that I've walked out. When people are emotional eaters, a lot of times they get caught up in why.

• Why do I eat like that?
• Why did I do that?
• Why did I eat that food again?
• Why did I fall off the wagon?
• Why, why, why, why, why, why?

It’s because the mind has this obsessive idea that it’s going to be able to figure that out and solve that problem. I just want to tell you, it's not logical. To try to solve it with logic, it's just futile. All you do is, you're just a dog chasing your tail, because you're trying to figure out why. It's not an ounce of logic.

I've been going back and listening to some of Dan Kennedy's work; Dan Kennedy is a writer; he writes a lot of ad copy. He's just a genius in business and he's on his deathbed, he may have passed by now.

Anyway, I was going back. He's impacted so many lives, we don't even realize that he's impacted our lives. But in what I was listening to he was talking about goal setting, and it just really hit me.

I realized the whole diet world has just destroyed women's self-esteem and part of that is, we set these goals that we aren’t really not in alignment with.
